Voters head to the polls in consequential House races in Oregon and California

Five states held elections Tuesday that could play a consequential role in deciding the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives this year and next — with races ranging from a contentious Democratic primary in an Oregon swing district to a special election to replace the former House speaker, Kevin McCarthy (R), in Congress.
