Jonah Sanders wears many hats—law professor, filmmaker, mentor—but at the core of it all is his unwavering commitment to justice and education. From signing a new deal with Udemy to teach American Law, to creating life-changing programs for at-risk youth, and now venturing into the world of filmmaking with Amazon and Tubi, Jonah is on a mission to enlighten and inspire. He’s not just another name in the headlines; he’s a force of change. Today, we sit down with Jonah to discuss how he manages to balance these incredible ventures while staying true to his passion for empowering communities through knowledge and storytelling.

Yonkers Observer: Jonah, it seems like you’re everywhere lately. You’ve just signed a deal with Udemy to teach American Law courses and you’re also creating programs for at-risk youth. Not to mention, you’re diving into directing films and documentaries for Amazon and Tubi. How do you manage it all?

Jonah Sanders: (laughs) It can feel like a lot sometimes, but it’s all about passion and purpose. I’ve always believed that education and storytelling are powerful tools for change. Whether it’s breaking down the intricacies of criminal and civil law or shedding light on human and civil rights, I see it as different ways of fighting the same battle for justice.

Yonkers Observer: Let’s start with Udemy. What inspired you to make courses on criminal and civil law?

Jonah Sanders: Law is foundational to everything. The average person might not know it, but understanding criminal and civil law can be life-changing. It can empower you to know your rights, navigate the system, and protect yourself and your community. With these courses, I want to make legal knowledge accessible to everyone—not just law students, but everyday people who want to understand the legal framework of America.

Yonkers Observer: And you’re also making courses specifically for at-risk youth. Why is that important to you?

Jonah Sanders: I grew up around a lot of young people who, for one reason or another, found themselves in difficult situations. Many times, it’s because they didn’t have the right guidance or knowledge. I want to create content that speaks directly to them, that teaches them about their potential, their rights, and ways to rise above their circumstances. These courses will focus not just on the law, but on life skills and empowerment.

Yonkers Observer: You’re also venturing into film and documentaries, with Amazon and Tubi. What can we expect from those projects?

Jonah Sanders: I’m really excited about those. I’ll be directing films and documentaries centered on human and civil rights. There are so many untold stories, especially within marginalized communities, that need to be shared. These films will explore historical and contemporary issues, giving voice to the people who are often overlooked. It’s not just about entertainment; it’s about educating and sparking real conversations.

Yonkers Observer: That’s a huge responsibility. Do you think this is part of your larger mission?

Jonah Sanders: Absolutely. Everything I do—whether it’s teaching, filmmaking, or writing—is about creating change. I’m focused on giving people the tools to think critically and take action. We live in a time when misinformation is rampant, and I believe education, in all its forms, is the antidote to that. With Amazon and Tubi, I’m aiming to reach broader audiences and challenge the narratives people have been fed.

Yonkers Observer: With so many projects on your plate, do you ever feel stretched too thin?

Jonah Sanders: It’s a balancing act for sure, but when you’re passionate about something, you find the energy. I’ve built a strong team around me, which allows me to focus on the creative and educational aspects. At the end of the day, it’s about knowing that what I’m doing can have a real impact—that keeps me going.

Yonkers Observer: Last question: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Jonah Sanders: (smiles) Hopefully still pushing boundaries. I want to keep growing these platforms—expanding the courses, the films, and the reach. I see myself continuing to advocate for justice and education, and making sure that the people who need it most have access to knowledge and inspiration. I don’t see this work slowing down anytime soon.

Yonkers Observer: Thank you for your time, Jonah. You really are a machine!

Jonah Sanders: (laughs) Thank you. I’ll take that as a compliment.
