Republicans have voted to adjourn to give two members of their caucus — Texas’s Wesley Hunt and Colorado’s Ken Buck — time to return to Washington to cast a vote for GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.).
Hunt, a freshman, flew back to Texas on Friday to be with his wife and son, who was born prematurely this week.
In a statement Monday, Hunt said Willie Parish Hunt II “came into our lives a few weeks earlier than expected, premature by four weeks, but he is otherwise healthy and resting comfortably.” And, in a tweet sent Friday morning, Hunt said this week has been a challenging one “for the American people and for my family.”
