TALLAHASSEE, FL – In response to recent mass shootings, Florida lawmakers have introduced a bipartisan bill aimed at tightening gun laws while protecting Second Amendment rights.
The proposed legislation includes stricter background checks, mandatory safe storage laws, and raising the minimum age to purchase firearms to 21.
“We need common-sense measures to ensure responsible gun ownership,” said Senator Mark Reynolds. “This isn’t about taking away rights, but about making sure firearms don’t fall into the wrong hands.”
Gun rights advocates have pushed back, arguing that the bill places unnecessary restrictions on law-abiding citizens.
“These laws only hurt responsible gun owners,” said NRA spokesperson Daniel Parker. “Criminals don’t follow laws, so this won’t stop gun violence.”
The bill is expected to be debated in the coming weeks, with both parties divided on the issue.
