Against a backdrop of rising calls for President Biden to step aside as the Democratic nominee, he will take reporters’ questions at a news conference Thursday. Coming two weeks after his disastrous debate performance, the Q&A session serves as another chance for Biden to prove he can make a forceful case for his candidacy while speaking in an unscripted forum. Most Democrats nationwide say he should end his reelection campaign based on his performance in last month’s presidential debate with Donald Trump, according to a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll. The poll results contradict Biden’s claim that only party elites want him to step aside.
