How every senator voted on averting a partial government shutdown

The Senate passed a bill on Friday to partially fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30. This latest measure funds about 30 percent of the federal government.

Some of the government departments funded by this bill include the Departments of Justice, Transportation, Energy, Agriculture, Commerce, Interior, Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, and the Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration and crucial government research functions.

The House passed the legislation on Wednesday afternoon by a vote of 339 to 85, but the Senate’s planned vote hit a snag Friday afternoon, as a small band of hard line Republicans were blocking the legislation hours before the midnight deadline.

The Senate eventually passed the bill Friday evening, sending it to President Biden to sign before a partial government shutdown was triggered.

Here’s how your senators voted on keeping the government open.

A deadline for funding the remaining 70 percent of government, including the Defense and State departments, looms just two weeks away.

Jacob Bogage contributed to this report. Data from the U.S. Senate.
